Fort Bend County approved four incentive agreements 4-0 for Tesla's $10.1B "Project Crystal Sun" — the plant is projected to create 9,712 full-time jobs by 2033, but the site isn't final.

Teslarati reports Fort Bend County, Texas, on Thursday approved four incentive agreements 4-0 for Tesla's proposed $10.1B solar cell factory, "Project Crystal Sun": a property tax abatement (Reinvestment Zone No. 34), a Chapter 381 economic development agreement, and foreign-trade-zone payment-in-lieu and settlement agreements.

The application allots $1.5B to real estate and $8.6B to equipment. The candidate site is about 3,000 acres near Needville, but Tesla is weighing other locations and no final site is set. Tesla aims to pick a site by year-end and reach commercial operation in Q1 2029, with 9,712 full-time jobs projected by 2033.

Lamar CISD approved moving ahead with a JETI agreement 7-0 in September (50% of taxable maintenance-and-operations value on qualified property, 2029–2038). Final approval from the state Comptroller and Governor's office is still required.
