Grok AI rolls out to Tesla vehicles in Korea and Japan

Jul 13, 2026 · Original Fortune Korea ✓ Confirmed by 2 outlets

Elon Musk's Grok AI has expanded to Tesla vehicles in Korea and Japan — Tesla Japan's official account confirmed on July 10 that cars running software 2026.20+ now support Grok, while new Tesla vehicles delivered in Korea from July 12 come with the English-language version pre-installed (Korean support still pending).

Elon Musk's Grok AI chatbot has expanded into two key Asian markets for Tesla: Korea and Japan. The two countries got the feature on slightly different timelines and terms.

In Japan, Tesla Japan's official X account announced on July 10 that Grok was now supported in vehicles there, under the tagline "Ask Grok anything." It requires software version 2026.20 or later, and works in beta at no extra charge with either a Premium Connectivity subscription or a Wi-Fi connection. The U.S. got the feature starting in July 2025, making Japan the next major rollout market.

In Korea, every new Tesla vehicle delivered from July 12 onward comes with Grok pre-installed. For now, only the English-language version is available — Korean-language support, previously said to be coming in "early 2026," has yet to materialize.

For Tesla shareholders, the expansion signals Grok becoming a standard feature across Tesla's software stack as it reaches further into Asian markets — a test of whether Musk's "Tesla as an AI platform" pitch can translate into software and subscription revenue beyond hardware sales.
