Tesla and XPeng are the only automakers with official self-driving rides at Paris Motor Show — Tesla fields six Model 3s
Tesla and XPeng are the only automakers selected for the Paris Motor Show's official Autonomous Lab program (October 13-18), offering public self-driving test rides — Tesla with six Model 3s running FSD (Supervised), XPeng with two L03 SUVs running its NGP system, in roughly 25-minute rides covering pedestrian detection, automatic braking and lane-keeping. Being one of only two automakers chosen signals the credibility FSD carries on Europe's biggest auto-show stage.
XPeng disclosed the details while announcing its own Paris Motor Show plans. The rides depart from a dedicated test center at Gate H, Hall 7.1, at the Porte de Versailles venue, with Tesla and XPeng the only two automakers given an official slot.
Tesla is fielding six Model 3 sedans running FSD (Supervised), while XPeng brings two of its newly launched L03 SUV coupes running its Next Generation Pilot (NGP) system. XPeng called it its first large-scale NGP test-ride event outside China.
Each ride runs about 25 minutes and covers pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping, assisted lane changes and automated parking. XPeng is also using the show to globally launch its new flagship G9L SUV and announce European pricing and pre-orders.
Tesla's FSD still lacks EU-wide regulatory approval (the bloc-wide vote has slipped from October to December), which makes this selection symbolically significant on both the regulatory and public-perception fronts — being one of only two automakers picked signals the credibility FSD carries with the industry and the show's organizers.
