Tesla readies Vietnam entry — hiring starts in market where VinFast holds 36% share

A Tesla recruiter says the company is "officially coming" to Vietnam and is hiring for five roles — the same hiring-first pattern as Thailand and the Philippines, but no pricing, models or stores are announced yet.

Per Electrek, Tesla recruiter Ricky Ip posted on X that Tesla is "officially coming" to Vietnam and hiring. The five roles are Sales Manager, Service Manager, HR Business Partner, Purchasing Manager and Project Developer, Charging — the last read as a sign Superchargers are planned.

Tesla quietly registered Tesla Motors Vietnam LLC in Ho Chi Minh City on Sept. 11 with about 77.7 billion dong (roughly $3 million) in charter capital. It has not commented, and no pricing, models or store locations are out. Electrek notes Tesla hired first in Thailand and the Philippines before launching there.

VinFast holds about 36% of Vietnam's car market through nine months, with 177,697 deliveries — more than its next five rivals combined. It builds locally in Haiphong, while Tesla would likely import, probably from Giga Shanghai, under high tariffs. Vietnam extended its registration-fee exemption for battery-electric cars through 2030, including imports, which helps Tesla. A large share of VinFast's deliveries go to ride-hailing firm GSM, chaired by VinFast's founder, so its volume overstates consumer demand.
