Grok Bot can now make phone calls for you — open to all users for US businesses
Grok Bot now places calls to US businesses on users' behalf and sends back a summary — the feature Musk teased on Oct. 25 widens what the AI assistant in Tesla vehicles can do.
Per Teslarati, Grok Bot creator Peter Yang said on Tuesday, Nov. 3 that all Grok Bot users can now call US businesses. Musk had teased the feature on X on Oct. 25 as calling "someone or a business for you."
The bot relays the request, records the reply and sends back a summary. Cited examples include a roughly 25-minute Comcast call that cut a monthly bill from $84 to $45, and a 51-minute Verizon Fios call that earned a $100 gift card. The bot must disclose it is a virtual assistant and that calls may be recorded; marketing, mass calling and impersonation are banned, and only US numbers are supported.
On Nov. 1, however, Musk said Grok Bot's costs are "unsustainably high" relative to revenue, and weekly usage limits were cut. How calls count against those limits has not been disclosed. This rests on a single outlet's report.
